The Delta Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded March 15, 1973 in Tacoma, Washington, under the leadership of Brother Henry “Rock” Thomas, Brother Cleveland Williams, Brother Carl Brown (Omega Chapter), Brother Ray Lottier (Omega Chapter) and Curtis A. Baylor (Former Grand Keeper of Records and Seal).
The Chapter was chartered by the 13th Twelfth District Representative, Thomas P. McPhatter, (Omega Chapter) of Phi Omicron chapter. Delta Pi Chapter conceived five young charter members: Brother Leroy Roberts Jr. (Omega Chapter), Brother James L. Anthony, Brother John k. Whitfield, Brother Charlie Williams and Brother Paul Watkins.
Since then, Delta Pi Chapter has released some of the most successful businessmen, politicians and educators into our society. During its first stage of development, it was an intermediate chapter, which embraced all men interested in the "true fraternal life." Predominantly, graduate men servicing in the U.S. Military at Ft. Lewis, McCord Airforce base (now JBLM) and living in the Puget Sound region. Delta Pi is a graduate chapter that has been a strong catalyst for the growth of Omega Psi Phi in the Pacific Northwest.
The thoroughly immersed nature of this chapter's 45 years of rich history continues to influence young enthusiastic men. Delta Pi has persevered to be responsive to the social issues in the Puget Sound and Tacoma communities by unselfishly displaying its inspirational, social, educational, and civic talents to youth in the surrounding community. The unconditional and genuine love Delta Pi brothers have for the fraternity gives them the incentive to make a difference in the lives of others.
Today, Delta Pi is made up of professional Omega men who characterize themselves as committed to the Fraternity's four Cardinal Principles: Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift.
