The Passport to Manhood Program promotes and teaches responsibility in boys ages 8 to 14.

It consists of 14 sessions, each concentrating on a specific aspect of character and manhood through highly interactive activities.

Each participant receives his own “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth. In the US today, there are few rites of passage for adolescent boys. Instead, many people believe that adulthood comes automatically with high-school graduation, getting a driver's license, having a first drink, being able to vote, or turning 21.

Passport to Manhood is specially designed to guide boys on their journey to manhood, encouraging and supporting them as they face specific challenges related to becoming an adult man. The goal of the journey is for each young man to become aware of his unique gifts, to seek ways to contribute to his family, and to learn how to become a valuable member of the community.

Delta Pi began partnering with the Al Davies Boys & Girls Club, located in the Hill Top neighborhood of Tacoma, Washington, to provide mentors to deliver the program. 

In addition to the much-needed mentoring experience, students can become eligible to apply for scholarships.

The original statement of the Talent Hunt idea included this expression: “Creative and outstanding capacities in any honorable activity should be eligible for consideration.” During public presentations, all original displays were limited to the field of music. Since that time, the Talent Hunt Program has been expanded to include other forms of expressive arts.

The Talent Hunt Program has touched thousands of students, many of whom have gone on to make outstanding contributions to their communities and our world. Many have earned scholarships, awards, and recognition through exposure from this program. One of our contestants competed in the "America Got Talent" program. It is part of our overall effort to continue an unyielding commitment to support our youth.

In partnership with the Tacoma Urban League, members of the Delta Pi served as role models and mentors for the inaugural Male Involvement Program during the 2018 school year.  The program focuses on young men in middle school who have been given an option of participate in the program or suspension from school.  Like the Passport to Manhood, the program is a yearlong program with a structured program plan.  We continue to support this program.

The PGA Jr League brings friends, families, and communities together through golf. It focuses on boys and girls ages 17 and under of all skill levels. With its focus on youth, Delta Pi partners with the PGA Jr League to assist underserved youth in participating in a developmental experience in the sport of golf. We sponsor youth golfers with membership fees, equipment funding and tournament participation.

The Global Day of Service is a community-service program that provides support to The Coffee Oasis--a Department of Social and Health Services licensed under-aged youth shelter that provides youth a safe and encouraging place to live while they work towards sustainable housing and employment. Delta Pi supports the shelter with their unique needs from school supplies to hygiene items to backpacks to sleeping bags to blankets to bedding.

In 2022, we welcome the opportunity to expand our reach in the community by providing one-on-one mentoring relationships with youth through a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington. This program helps youth to achieve success in school, avoid risky behaviors and to improve their self-confidence.

As part of its social action programs, members of Delta Pi support the Nativity House adult homeless shelter by serving the dinner meal each month. Each December in addition to serving a special meal, we make a monetary donation in honor of the late Brother Ed Williams—the founder of the project. We also support a clothing and sock drive for the shelter each year.

In 2006, Delta Pi started the Adopt-A-Street program to revitalize the most disadvantaged community in Tacoma. Each month, members of the chapter conduct a street cleanup project along Martin Luther King Jr Way in the “Hilltop” community of Tacoma.

Each year during the holiday season, Delta Pi conducts a Thanksgiving Food Basket project for needy families in Tacoma and surrounding communities. For Christmas, toys are added to the usual food baskets. Junior military enlisted families from Joint Base Lewis McChord were added to this program a few years ago.
